The Congressional App Challenge (CAC) is a public effort to encourage kids to learn how to code through annual competitions hosted by Members of Congress for their district. This year, the Office of Congressman Scott Peters will be hosting a hackathon with the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) for students on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 6 p.m. Hackathon participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the Congressional App Challenge and ask our panel of experts questions. Students will also be introduced to programming in Jupyter Notebook, a web application and programming tool for interactively developing and presenting data science projects and for creating and sharing computational documents. In addition, students can tour the Data Center and learn about supercomputers.
The Hackathon is capped at 20 students. Registration for the hackathon is first-come-first-serve and priority will be given to those registered to participate in this year’s Congressional App Challenge.
NOTE: Registration is open only to those residing or attending school in the 50th district of California. To confirm your eligibility, please verify your address.
