Tutorial Program Announced for Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB 2000)

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO -- Topics ranging from sequence analysis to metabolic pathways are among 14 tutorials to be offered at the Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB 2000, http://ismb2000.sdsc.edu/), which will take place August 19-23, 2000, at the University of California, in La Jolla, California. The seven morning and seven afternoon sessions will be held Saturday, August 19, on the UC San Diego campus.

Conference participants may attend up to one morning and one afternoon session. The sessions and the instructors are listed below:

This year's ISMB conference focuses on bioinformatics associated with the interpretation of large-scale gene expression data, whole genome comparative analysis, mathematical modeling and biochemical pathways, and large macromolecular assemblies using data at different resolutions

ISMB 2000 is co-chaired by Philip Bourne and Michael Gribskov, computational biologists at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC).

In addition to the tutorials, there will be six keynote speakers, as well as paper presentations, poster sessions, software demonstrations, and exhibits by vendors and researchers.

Two satellite conferences will be held in association with ISMB 2000: the Bioinformatics Open Source Conference and the Third Annual Bio-Ontologies Meeting. Information about these is also available on the ISMB 2000 Web site.
