San Diego Supercomputer Center and San Diego Software Industry Council to Host Web Services Conference

Published January 28, 2004

The San Diego Software Industry Council (SDSIC) [ https://www.keysecure.com/sdsic.org/] and the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) will hold a Web services conference on January 29, in SDSC's facilities on the campus of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). The day-long event will feature speakers from AmberPoint, Actional, BEA, Blue Titan, Computer Associates, Confluent, IBM, Microsoft, SDSC, and Terari.

"This promises to be the event of the year for people involved in Web services," said SDSC's Sean Peisert, vice-chairman of the conference. "The topics will cover the full spectrum of Web services, including architectures, security, management, scientific applications, and future directions."

The keynote address will be by Tim Marshall, VP Technology at Neudesic, Inc., on "The Real Time Enterprise and Services-Oriented Architectures: What it means to your business." Other presentations will include "Design and Execution of Scientific Workflows using Web Services," by three of SDSC's data management experts, and a technology preview on "BizTalk Server 2004 and Web services." Panel discussions will cover Web Services Management and Web Services Security.

"All of the features will be interesting and worthwhile, but we expect the closing panel discussion on the future of Web services, by BEA, Computer Associates, IBM, and Microsoft, will be the hit of the day," said conference chairman Brian Loesgen, president of the International .NET Association (INETA), leader of the San Diego Software Industry Council Web Services SIG, and a principal consultant with Neudesic, a firm that specializes in .NET development and Microsoft server integration.

Registration for the conference is by prior arrangement only; there will be no on-site registration. Prepaid registration is $40 for SDSIC members and $50 for non-members. Registration includes free parking. Lunch for conference attendees will be hosted by Microsoft.
