San Diego Supercomputer Center Hosts TeraGrid Science Gateways Seminar

Published February 27, 2006

The San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) will host the next Cyberinfrastructure Seminar Series on Tuesday, March 7 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Pacific Time). Nancy Wilkins-Diehr, SDSC director of consulting, training and documentation as well as TeraGrid area director for Science Gateways, will discuss "TeraGrid Science Gateways" and highlight work from four groups. Then presenters from each group will describe the science that the gateway enables using TeraGrid resources and will talk briefly about gateway design and TeraGrid integration.

Presentation topics will include:

  • Linked Environments for Atmospheric Discovery (Marcus Christie, Indiana University, and Brian Jewett, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)
  • nanoHUB, an initiative led by the Network for Computational Nanotechnology (Sebastien Goasguen, Purdue University)
  • Open Life Sciences Gateway (Ivan Judson, Argonne National Laboratory)
  • National Virtual Observatory (Roy Williams, California Institute of Technology)

The seminar will be available on site at SDSC, via the Access Grid (see AG Schedule), and as a live webcast at /www.cichannel.org.

The Cyberinfrastructure Seminar Series is a set of presentations on cyberinfrastructure and related research organized by SDSC and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). The TeraGrid Science Gateways program was initiated to expand the influence of TeraGrid resources through back-end integration into community developed portals and desktop applications.
